About this site
Thanks for visiting! My name is Rhiannon - I'm a data scientist and the founder of HealthDataWatch.ca. I've spent my career working on healthcare and biotechnology projects across many phases of R&D, from early-stage biomarker identification to post-approval studies of pharmaceuticals.
I launched this little project in January 2025 with the goal of inspiring and empowering more researchers and journalists to responsibly use public data sources to investigate health-related issues in Canada.
What is it?
A free, independent mailing list for researchers and journalists investigating diverse health and safety-related issues in Canada.
Includes monthly bulletins compiling important data-related updates from authoritative institutions like Health Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), plus a few light additions like highlighted news stories and journal articles, R and Python programming tips, specialized workshops and networking opportunities.
Is it free?
Yep - new issues are delivered to your inbox on the last Wednesday of the month. The latest issue is also available on the website.
Paid subscribers get access to the full archive.
Is feedback welcome?
Yes! Please share any feedback, questions or tips to info@healthdatawatch.ca.
Funding / support
The site is supported by me and subscribers (thank you!).
